Restaurant bins (who knew there were so many types?)
Large waste bins
Large waste bins are not usually seen by the general public. They are mainly used in large commercial kitchens where the bin will be in constant use by staff. The large waste bin is designed to be able to take a lot of waste and the wide mouth ensures easy access during a busy shift. Most of these bins come with a removable lid or a swing lid. This means that even though they are in constant use, there is very little risk of spills and food or other waste landing on the floor. They are available in a range of sizes and shapes. You can also choose from metal or black plastic, both of which are quick and easy to wipe down.
Pedal bins
Pedal bins are usually seen by your customers. They are most commonly used in cafes, self-service areas and parts of the restaurant such as dessert stations and salad bars. The pedal bin is used by the customer and this means that it needs to reflect the decor and brand of your restaurant. This is why they are available in a range of colours and shapes, including round and rectangular. They are also incredibly hygienic because customers do not need to touch the lid. This will help to reduce the risk of cross-contamination in your establishment. Another huge benefit is that the tight-fitting lid helps to trap in any unpleasant smells while preventing rubbish from escaping.
Push bins
The push bin is also a popular option for rubbish collection in restaurants and cafes, and they are usually cheaper than the pedal bin. In most cases, these bins are found in fast food settings in which customers dispose of their own trays and food waste. The only downside to the push bin is that they can look messy when food becomes stuck to the lid, so they do need regular cleaning. However, if used for items such as cans, cardboard or paper then they are a good option. They are available in a range of shapes and sizes.
Bottle trucks
One of the easiest ways to store and then dispose of bottles in your restaurant or bar is with the use of a bottle truck. As the name suggests this is a large bin with a wide opening and they are usually easy to move around on wheels. This enables them to be moved from indoors to outside when the bottles need to be collected. The bottle truck just means that your bar area will be kept clean and free of empty bottles as there is a dedicated bin for them. You'll always be able to find a bottle truck in the right size for your needs.
Recycling bins
We are all being encouraged to recycle as much waste as possible, and using recycling bins in the restaurant can help you to easily manage your recycling waste. These bins come in all shapes and sizes making them easy to store in the smallest of spaces. They are also available in a range of colours so that you can place particular items of waste in a single bin. So perhaps a red bin could be used for paper waste and a green bin could be used for plastics. Your workers will know exactly where to dispose of recycling waste.
Smoking bins
Even though smoking is banned inside all public spaces, your customers are allowed to smoke in outdoor seating and dining areas. What you don't want is your outside space to be littered with cigarette ends. This is when wall mounted smoking bins should be installed. These bins are relatively small in size and are unobtrusive.
